My Little Fish

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 4:18 PM 0 comments
Wednesday I brought Riley and the three beautiful kids I babysit in the summertime, Logan, Madie and Megan swimming.

As soon as we got there, I dressed Riley in her swimsuit and put on her Stearn's Puddle Jumper's life jacket. I had purchased her life jacket last month when I noticed that her arm floaties were not really any help to her. The arm floaties were hard to get on and did not help keep her head and chest afloat. The Puddle Jumpers has a flotation piece that supports her chest. It also has arm floaties that are attached. She does not find it uncomfortable at all.

Let me tell you that the Puddle Jumpers life jacket is amazing. Riley swims everywhere with no help from me. She actually will not let me touch her when she is swimming around with it on. Before the life jacket, she would cling to me and not let go. I think this is a wonderful start and I am so glad she is no longer afraid of the water. I just wish I would have purchased one last year.

I was so proud watching how far she she has came in such a little time. She is more confident and can actually enjoy pool time!!

Mosquito 86 Giveaway

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 7:40 AM 0 comments
Home Construction and Improvement is giving away a Mosquito 86.The Mosquito 86 –Mosquito Control System is a mosquito eradication system, NOT an attraction and collection system as most other systems are. The Mosquito 86 system uses a special chemical to kill mosquitos, biting flies, gnats, fleas, ticks, and a host of others. What’s really nice is you can attach it to over 50 different types of leaf blowers. If you don’t have leaf blower they sell complete kits with gas or electric leaf blowers.

This is one item that I would love to own. My daughter and I are highly sensitive to mosquitoes. If we had one of these we would be able to enjoy going outside more. I would not have the constant fear that a mosquito is going to bite my daughter. Last year and this year she was bitten by her eye, swelling it shut.

This is a picture of her eye last year. You can see additional bites on her face.

Laurie Berkner~Rocketship Run~Review and Giveaway

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 9:15 AM 46 comments
My daughter has loved music since she was itty bitty. We would listen to a few different children's cd's. She would dance and try to sing along. Once the cd was over she would move on to something else and not give the music cd a second thought, until I would play it again.

My daughter loves Noggin and loves the music that they play. I really noticed her becoming very attached to the music of the Laurie Berkner Band. She would get so excited when she would hear them on the TV. It was almost if she had radar ears or something, because she could be on the other side of the house and would come running if Laurie was singing. The Laurie Berkner Band's music videos have appeared on Noggin since 2004.

We were very fortunate to find the DVD with bonus CD of "We are the Laurie Berkner Band".
As soon as we got in the car, we had to put in the CD. She was extremely excited. Everytime we get in the car she asks for "her music". She sings along with every song. If I try and sing she fusses at me and tells me to "Stop singing momma. It is my music not yours". When we get in the house she wants the DVD playing. It plays on her TV in her room almost all day. The feature I wish they would add to it is auto start, because I have to restart it everytime it is over.
She will run around everywhere we go and sing all of the songs by heart now. She marches along the fireplace mantle singing "we are the dinosaurs marching, marching". I just giggle everytime I see her reaction to Laurie and her music because it is amazing how emgrossed my two year old with the Laurie's music.

I was just sent Laurie's new release "Rocketship Run". When it came in the mail, I showed my daughter the CD. I asked who her was on the cover. She lit up and said, "Laurie". I told her Laurie sent her this CD just to her and she had a smile from ear to ear.

It comes packed with 24 awesome songs! You can even find the lyrics to all the songs on the website.
Track Listing:
1. Rocketship Run
2. Going on a Hunt (ska)
3. Mouse in My Toolbox
4. Candy Cane Jane
5. All Around My Room
6. One More Stop on the Train
7. Going On a Hunt (blues)
8. Jump and Fly
9. Pigbasket
10. Five Days Old
11. Mr. Bassman (and Piano Girl)
12. Winter Lullaby
13. Let's Samba
14. Going on a Hunt (conga)
15. My Blue Sailboat
16. Balance Beam
17. Thunderstorm
18. Fast and Slow (The Rabbit and the Turtle)
19. Going on a Hunt (jig)
20. Farm Song (That's What I Did on the Farm)
21. Nona
22. Walk Along the River
23. Going on a Hunt (hand jive)
24. Fly Me To The Moon

Wow! Is all I can say about Laurie Berkner's new cd Rocketship Run. You can purchase the CD for only $15.00 on Laurie Berkner's website.

Princess Set

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 9:41 AM 0 comments
I wanted to share with you an order that I recently finished for a long time customer. She wanted a princess theme for a newborn baby and wanted the colors brown, pink and light green incorporated into the design.

I think that this set came out really cute. I purchased the princess applique design set from Designs by Juju. I purchased the Curlz initial applique set from Embroidery Boutique. I have found that the designs from both of these companies stitch out perfectly the first time, everytime! If you have an embroidery machine and are in the need of some really cute designs, check these companies out, they are fantastic.

The initial bib. I used pink polka dot fabric. It has a beautiful stitch out along the edges. It reminds me of a dainty lace.

Magic Wand
I used pink polka dot fabric and light green polka dot fabric and added accents of brown.

Matching Towel and Pillowcase Set

Fairy Princess and Carriage Onesie Set
Sizes 3-6 months and 6-9 months

A Wonderful Visit

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 4:56 PM 0 comments
My younger sister came to visit these past couple of weeks. She brought her 4 beautiful children with her. It was such a joy to see them and spend time with them. We only get to see them once or twice a year. I was amazed at how much they have grown and what amazing little people they have become. I wish they lived closer. I really miss seeing the kiddos grow up. Riley really misses them too!! She has only seen them several times in her few years of life. But, she knows who they are. She looks at their pictures everyday and knows all of their names.

I also have 3 more nephews and 2 more nieces that live far way and she knows who they are when she sees their pictures too. It is amazing how much love she has for them when she has only met them two or three times.

While my sister was here we took the kids to the small local zoo. The kids had a blast. Riley was so excited to go. She said she wanted to see a giraffe, an elephant and a "scaaary" tiger. We do not have an elephant at our zoo, but she got to see several tigers and a giraffe.

Here are a few pics from the zoo."Mr Giraffe"

What a wonderful visit. We can not wait to see them again!!

Neat Solutions Table Topper Review & Giveaway

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 12:33 PM 52 comments
I recently had the opportunity to do a review for a company called Neat Solutions, Inc. Neat Solutions is a company that makes unique products for families on the go. Their products also makes your life with a baby or toddler much easier.

I was sent the Table Topper in the Dora the Explorer pattern to review. I love them. It is a place mat that securely sticks in place on the table. It has sticky strips on the underside. We can go out to restaurants now and I do not have to worry if the table was sanitized before we sat down. Sometimes I place Riley's food directly on the Table Topper, but most of the time I sit her plate on it. As we all know, with toddlers the food does not stay on their plate too long. So, if she spills or moves her food off of her plate I do not have to worry about her eating it. What is also great about this product is I can just remove the Table Topper and most of her mess is taken up with it. They come in different fun designs that will help keep your child entertained in the restaurant.

I just recently bought the potty topper and the multi-use pads. We are attempting to potty train our daughter for the 100th time and these really come in handy. The multi-use pads are great for the car seat to protect it from any "accidents". The potty topper is great for public restrooms.

Neat Solutions makes many other items that make life easier. A collection of these would be a great baby shower gift.

Neat Solutions is giving one lucky reader a pack of 18 Winnie the Pooh Table Toppers.

This contest is open to U.S. residents. Contest will end on August 8th, 2009 at 11:59 pm CST. Winner will be chosen randomly by random.org. Perry Winkles Kids Smocked Dress Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 10:50 AM 164 comments
I love anything smocked!!! I can truly say I am an addict for smocked dresses, bubbles and pant sets. When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I started buying them and buying them! Smocked dresses are so timeless and clothing work of art. My favorite is the bishop and angel sleeve styles. With these styles you can get 2-3 years of wear out of one dress. I like to buy mine long and then as my daughter grows I pair them with bloomers or pantaloons.

I was recently given the opportunity to review a smocked dress from Perry Winkles Kids. They make beautiful hand-smocked dresses. We received the Ursala smocked sundress. It is breathtaking. The quality is second to none! It is made of a gorgeous, super soft cotton in green with a fun plaid pattern and is completely lined. It has pearlized buttons in the back from the top to the bottom. We just love it!! The smocking detail is amazing!! I love the fact that I can dress this dress up or down. I can pair it with keds or sandals for a more casual look or with a pair of mary janes for a dressier look.

Here is a picture of Riley in her new dress. I took several pictures of Riley in her new dress but had my camera on the wrong setting. This is the only one I could salvage.

Perry Winkles Kids is a Canadian-based mother and daughter team. They are both moms that appreciate good quality and easy to care for clothing. They only work with natural fibres (like 100% pima cotton) and they place a huge importance in bringing you a high-quality and unique product.

They offer sizes ranging from 3 months to 6T.

Here a just a few of my favorites.

Perry Winkles Kids is offering one of my readers a dress of their choice.

See Kai Run Review & Giveaway - ENDED

Posted by Secret Burkheiser at 2:15 PM 255 comments
I was recently given the opportunity to review a pair of shoes from See Kai Run. I chose the Celeste shoes for my daughter. When we received them in the mail she was so eager to try them on. I took them out of the box and my first impression was "WOW, these feel like butter!". She tried the Celeste shoes on and they fit great!! She loved them so much, she did not want to take them off. They are incredibly soft. I know that Riley will not getting any blisters from these. The craftsmanship is amazing!! I am a huge fan of boutique shoes for my daughter. Many of the pairs that I have bought are so hard that they are uncomfortable for her to wear or they cause blisters.

We were going to take pictures of her in the shoes, but it has been raining so much in South Louisiana I did not want her to wear them outside for the pictures.

They have a beautiful selection of shoes! Just look at the great color combination's they offer. I wish they were offered in my size:) The boy selection is just as great as the girl selection. I know looking at the boy shoes in most stores the selection is super small and they are plain and not too cute. It is just the opposite with See Kai Run.

They have a new fall/winter line that will be available in August.
Here is a sneak peek of some of the shoes they will be adding to their line.

A little something from See Kai Run about their amazing shoes.
